Swamp tour

Well today we went on a swamp tour from new orleans. As new orleans is built on swamps you can imagine what lurks yonder. Had a great ride. Lots of people. But we still got to see and we learnt heaps. The guy who does the tour actually lives on the swamps so he had so much knowledge. Put a couple pics up of the alligators. They come right up to the boat and the tour guide knows them all and has named them all. He even opened the gate to the big one on side of boat and opened his mouth for us to show us his teeth, The baby one that steph and Scott is holding is 3 years old. He has been raising it as the mother rejected 2 in the nest. Tonight scott and i went down bourban st. At night its even more colourful. As drinking in the street is legal in luisianna you just stop at a bar grab a drink in a plastic to go cup and go on your merry way. Every 2nd shop is a pizza and daquarie bar, Scott had a banana Banchee tonight. Steph is spewing she is under 21 so cant even step into a bar. Anyways. Enjoy the pics. We are off on a paddle steamer tomorrow . We are also broke. Getting tight with tipping. The food is awsome here. Shame the place is so smelly. Really gone down hill since Hurricane katrina but they battled on and business as usual.

Till tomorrow.

BBQ Sunday

Well today Jackie is doing us a traditional Yankee BBQ. Not just steak here on the BBQ. All sorts of stuff. Pork injected with stuff. And what they call Boudin. Sounds gross whats in it but apparently real nice and popular. I will let you know. Google it. I dare ya. haha. Another day relaxing here. But we are in a town that is very religious. Interesting as they go to the supermarket here and you can buy all sorts of alcohol next to the butter and bread. But come Sunday. Oh thats not allowed. Scott went this morning with Jackie to get groceries and to buy himself a bottle of bacardi. But in west monroe on sunday its a day for church so they wont sell you alcohol. If you cross the river to Monroe you can buy grog after 12pm. So they have just gone there. No fun getting together with the clan on just water. Even im drinking Coke Zero. Drunk on Caffeine. Great bunch of people.
Off to new orleans tomorrow. That should be very interesting.

Relaxing

Well today is for relaxing. Finally got Scott to go off and do boy things so he is off with Jackie today fishing. Steph and i are doing not much. Don't even think we are going to spend any money today. Woo Hoo. Off to New Orleans on monday. We were going to Memphis but just decided all the driving was to much on top of what we had already done and going to do. So should have some interesting pics from new orleans considering its the city of voodoo and witchery. But alot of history there to. Look forward to catching up with you all when get back.
Oh and everything here is either served on a stick or with pancakes on the side. Even sausage wrapped in pancakes on a stick. Even maccas goes what they call a griddle. Its bacon and egg wrapped in pancake. Yuk. Well for us anyway. Poor Jackie didnt know what hit him when i started cooking for him. Like a restaraunt he says., You never know what your going to get. But he did cook us a great roast last night. I'm cooking tonight then he is doing a bbq on our sunday night.
Cheers for now

OMG!!!! i just saw an add on tv here in america . If you buy a new ute... Which they call trucks. You get a free shotgun. Some weird things we see here. Went to Hooters last night for dinner, Was cool. Girls in tight shirts and short shorts and lots of burgers. The girls go to big efforts to make you happy so they get good tips.

We went to mississipi today and looked at the war memorial stuff for the civil war. The place is called Confederate battlefield memorial park @ Vicksburg. Hoover Dam

We drove over Hoover Dam to get to and from the grand canyon. They are doing construction still on the bypass bridge. So dry along the way i have no idea where the water comes from. In the middle of the dessert. The drive out there was shocking to see how dry it is. Why would anyone put a casino city in the middle of it. Vegas i am talking about . You pop over the horizon and there it is.
We are in Monroe Still with Jackie. Steph and i went shopping with Jackies Neice today. What a lovely girl. Switched on. Drove us around. She is only 17 but a very smart young lady. We were lucky to have her take us to normal dress shops to buy normal sized clothes. Now that i have more than 2 sets of clothes i might change in my photos. We have filled an extra suitcase already. Everything is so cheap. And not cheap quality either. I bought Nike Shox joggers for training and they cost $100. And gel asics joggers for $40.
Up to Mississippi tomorrow to view history of the red coats and the blue coats.
Catch you soon
